LC Ambassadors
The LCHS Ambassadors is a group designed to be behind-the-scenes students who want to bring kindness and acceptance to our school.
LCHS AMBASSADORS is not an organization that is holding a lot of one time social events or necessarily will be seen a lot in the public eye. These are students who are serving on a daily basis, being sensitive to students who might be having a bad day or need a place to sit at lunch, standing up for a student who feels bullied etc. etc. They are selected by input from students and teachers in their 8th grade buildings to be an Ambassador as a Freshmen, and then are allowed to stay in the group for all 4 years.
The LC Ambassadors help by doing things with the Junior High students from our 5 grade schools, taking new students around to their classes, looking out to encourage random acts of kindness, and have training in dealing with situations like conflict resolution, peer mediation, and suicide prevention. In fact, last year, they put on a Yellow Ribbon Suicide Awareness assembly for the whole student body because they had attended an informative event about this topic at Greenbush and had a strong desire to get the information out to their own student body. This was stepping out of most of their comfort zones of being a behind-the-scenes helper, but they did it and did a great job!
Each year we offer either a day of training, or we have also had 2 weekend trainings at the Greenbush Camp, bringing in special speakers. This group is led by Miss Witty and Mrs. Garrett.
